Leroy Sisco & Bill Honza set up Double Bull Blind

March 30, 2001:  This is the blind that James Hardin and I hunted in at Greystone Castle while trying to harvest an Oryx.

This is the Simitar that eluded James Hardin and I on our recent hunt at Greystone Castle

March 28, 2001: They still call it hunting.  When you are in pursuit of big game, there are no guarantees, but it sure is fun.

A Little TOO Late

March 26, 2001:  Sometimes your hunting success is just a little too late.  The antlers above were found while hunting at Greystone Castle.  Wouldn't it have been nice to found this one a littler earlier?

March 24, 2001:  The recent hunt to Greystone Castle featured the guys above.  James Hardin has been in a wheel chair for 25 years and is just now beginning to hunt again.  Thanks to Bill Honza and Leroy Sisco dreams really do come true.

Turkeys & More Turkeys

March 23, 2001:Robert Hoague and I have been setting up some hog and turkey stands.  We will be bringing you updates as they happen.  The turkeys above were some more of those I saw while at Greystone Castle

Turkey Season is Upon Us & the Turkeys are Ready
Photo Taken at Greystone Castle

March 22, 2001:The hunt with James Hardin at Greystone Castle was fun and we saw a lot of game.  Thanks to Greystone Castle for the hunt and fabulous accommodations.  A special thanks to Jana Scrivner and Doug Cannon our event coordinators and a special thanks to Bill Honza our host and guide.  Leroy Sisco, James Hardin and his son Sam helped make this one of those memories to remember.

March 19, 2001: Tomorrow is one of those special hunts that you look forward to for a long time.  I will be hunting with James Hardin.  Mr. Hardin had a stroke 20 plus years ago and hasn't been able to hunt, but thanks to Leroy Sisco and Governor Perry of Texas,  Mr.  Hardin is going on a hunt at Graystone Castle and we are going to get to take the Texas Deer Hunter cameras on this very special event.  Check back and I will have pictures and more of our hunt.

March 18, 2001: Starting July 1st, you can join me each and every week, as we go hunting Texas Style. Tell your local station, if they don't have it, get it. Jim Autrey's Texas Deer Hunter.

A Common Critter Sighting while Bowhunting

March 17, 2001: The squirrel above is one of the many critters you see while out hunting. I don't know how many time they have made me think a deer was approaching my stand.

Chad Edwards with Rancho Del Zorro Hog

March 16, 2001: Bowhunting.net and Rancho Del Zorro are having a bowhunting hog hunt   April 19th-22nd.  If you would like to know how you can participate, contact me by E-Mail.

March 15, 2001:  Turkey season is almost here.  There are a lot of these elusive birds in the state and they make an excellent spring hunting activity.  So get out and hunt some birds.  You can also hunt these birds in New Mexico for a very reasonable license fee.  Be sure and support the National Wild Turkey Federation Superfund Banquets.  Schedule of remaining events NWTF.Click here

An opening Scene from TEXAS DEER HUNTER TV Show

March 14, 2001:  Our new TV show is tentatively set to start airing July 1, 2001.  It will come on 3 times a week.  The picture above is taken from the opening sequence and it gets better.  So stay tuned for more information.

Autrey House Lincoln Parish, LA

March 13, 2001:  The house above was built by my Great, Great, Great Grand-dad in 1849.  He raised and fed 17 kids, primarily by deer hunting.  Maybe, that is why I love to hunt.  It's my heritage.

March 10, 2001:   There are a lot of deer to see on the Texas Deer Hunter TV show.  The ones above are just two more reasons why you should watch.  Show dates and times will be announced soon.  Going to take a short trip, so will update again Tuesday.

Another Star of TEXAS DEER HUNTER TV

March 09, 2001: The pilot for Texas Deer Hunter TV is complete.  The above deer is one of the stars.  You can see more under "The Deer of Rancho Del Zorro".

March 08, 2001: This may be one of the most exciting days for me and the Texas Deer Hunter Family.  The pilot show should be completed.  We will ship it off to the "Outdoor Channel " for final approval.  Cross your fingers, because it looks great!

March 07, 2001:  How about, two for one?  These are two bucks at Oran Hill's ranch in Burnet, Texas.  Sixty yards away, while Robert Hoague and I are bowhunting.  The buck on the right is the one that kept us from getting a shot at the one below. "Buck on a String"

March 06, 2001: This is a Buck from Oran Hill's Burnet, Texas Ranch.  There were a lot of good deer on this bow hunting only ranch.  See story "Buck on a String" .

The "Star" of the Show

March 05, 2001: Every show is built around a primary story line or central character. "Big Boy" (above) plays a leading part in the pilot of our new show.  How can it get any better than this?  Story "Heaven or Hell"

Robert Hoague & Texas Deer Hunter Camera

March 04, 2001: Capturing wildlife and hunting scenes on a camera is more challenging than the hunting with a gun or bow.  Robert Hoague (Bowhunting.net) helped shoot a lot of the footage at Rancho Del Zorro, one of the featured shows  on Texas Deer Hunter TV.

March, 03, 2001: You might wonder why I am showing your these little bucks.  Well, they are next years bigger bucks.  Always be aware of smaller bucks when you are hunting.  They may not be what you are looking for this year, but due to their relatively small home range this will be a good place to start looking next year.

March 02, 2001: This is another one of those deer that makes your heart beat a little faster. This buck was seen on the Banner Ranch in SW Texas, along with many others just as nice.

MArch 01,2001: Making Memories, this is a picture of "Widetrack" (Buck, I harvested on the Banner Ranch) as he came out into the open.  Can you imagine the pressure of watching this deer for ten minutes, wondering if you are going to get a shot.
