| JULY 2001:
July 30, 2001: In the Central Texas area, it looks like August is coming in with hot and dry weather. We all need to make sure and drink plenty of water while out working on our deer leases this time of the year. It is easy to get dehydrated and suffer from some heat related problems. The deer are still looking good and hunters are going to have a lot to do as dove season is only one month away. This is an exciting time, since to many of us this is the official start of hunting season.
July 26, 2001: Hunting season is getting closer and hunter activity is on the increase. Start planning your season hunts, now. This is an excellent time to check your feeders and get some supplemental feed out for the deer and other wildlife. In many areas you may want to check the water availability. This is a critical time for helping our deer through this hot dry season. I have been amazed by the deer sitings in the mid day. You would think as hot as it has been the deer would move early and late. July 25, 2001: The picture above is courtesy of Bowhunting.net and Robert Hoague. Robert has a lot of pictures and updates on whitetail development. He has a lot of good looking bucks right outside his back door. Visit his web site @ www.bowhunting.net. July 24, 2001: It is hot and dry in Central Texas, but the deer are still looking extremely good. The antler development has seemingly not been effected by the conditions yet. Maybe, there will not be any adverse effect, if we could get just a little rain in the next couple of weeks. Of course, some parts of the country are getting too much rain. If you have some scouting reports or some pictures you would like to share, email them and we will share them with our Texas Deer Hunter Family.
July 22, 2001: Deer hunting is a lot of fun and can be enjoyed year round when you add in the exotic deer. They can be challenging and they make great trophies. If you have never hunted exotics, try it. I have another axis and blackbuck hunt scheduled for August and it just can't get here quick enough.
July 20, 2001: Much is asked, about trophy deer. However, isn't a trophy more in the eyes of the hunter than in the scoring. I look at the smile on the face and the glitter in the eye, this tells me more about a trophy than the score. all right, maybe you think I am a little off in the head, but doesn't what you recall when you think about a hunt really define a trophy. In an upcoming show there is a real trophy to me, and I wasn't even the hunter and there wasn't even a shot taken.
July 19, 2001:
The
dog days of summer are here. I am trying to get excited about the
upcoming hunting season and it is easy as long as you are in the house
or an air conditioned vehicle. I have seen some mighty nice bucks.
Michael Carroll & Something to Brag About July 17, 2001:
Time is getting closer and closer for the activities associated with hunting
season. The shows, the exotic hunts, practicing for dove season and
preparation of our stands and feeders for the upcoming deer season.
Hunting can be a year round sport and I will try to keep you up what is
going on in our sport, or if it is too hot for you, just grab your hat
and watch Texas Deer Hunter TV.
July 15, 2001: The last few days have been busy. Friday night we attended the Exotic Wildlife Association's Awards Banquet for Outfitters, etc. Chip Harmon, who I hunt with won guide and outfitter of the year. We then traveled to Dallas for a Quail Unlimited Meeting. We met a lot of good people at both meetings that will play an important role in our shows in the future. July 13, 2001: Mark and I are headed to Kerrville, Texas where we will attend the Exotic Wildlife Association's Awards Banquet. Chip Harmon a guide, I have hunted with is going to receive the honor of Guide and Outfitter of the Year. I 'll try to get you some pictures.
July 12, 2001: This pictures depicts a true Whitetail trophy. Thanks to Raymond for sharing it with all of the Texas Deer Hunter Family. Raymond has also donated a hunt to be auctioned at the Waco Chapter of the Texas Game Warden's Wild Game Supper on August 4th in Waco, Texas.
July 11, 2001:
The
stars of this weeks show are the kids that attended the Dallas Safari Clubs
SAFETY Extravaganza for kids. It was encouraging to get to take part
in this special activity. Thanks to Gray Thornton and Leroy Sisco
for letting us tag along. Co-star is an Auodad Ram at 22 steps.
July 9, 2001: We all get older and it sure beats the alternative. The mail box above was made for me by my daughter-in-law and granddaughter. There was also a Texas clock, Texas wash cloth and a shirt that looks like a Texas Flag. I wonder where they got the Texas idea. We all have to be proud of something. Texas and the viewers of Texas Deer Hunter TV are two good things to make you proud.
July 07, 2001: The response to the new Texas Deer Hunter TV show has been exceptional. Thanks to all of you, who have taken your time to send in your kind words. If you haven't seen it yet, it will be on again Sunday at 12:00pm CDT. July 06, 2001: The dog days of summer seem to come in with the 4th of July celebration, but there are a lot of things beginning to happen, related to hunting. Bass Pro Shop of Grapevine is sponsoring the NWTF's women in the outdoors on the 14th. The Exotic Wildlife Organization is having their awards banquet July 12th-14th in Kerrville. The Texas Game Wardens Association is having their Wild game Bar-B-Q in Waco on the 4th of August. In short, it is time to get ready for more hunting. July 05, 2001: Thanks to all of you who have taken your time to express your feelings about our first show. If you missed it on Tuesday, there will be another airing tonight at 10:30pm CDT on the Outdoor Channel. Next week, we will be with the Dallas Safari Club and their SAFETY Extravaganza for Kids. This is a great show for our young people. July 04, 2001:I would like to thank Mike Spencer and Norman Ferrier for their quick and kind remarks about our first Texas Deer Hunter TV show. It always feels good to think others like what you do. I will try to get a system set up for you to register for the hunts, ASAP. Until, I do just send me an e-mail with contact information and I will get you entered into the running. Mike if you will send be another e-mail, I will capture your e-mail address this time. July 3, 2001: H.O.P.E. ( Helping Other People Enjoy) A special thanks to Daryl from Lampasas, Texas. He was nice enough to call me to say, " he really enjoyed a tape of our first show". This is what it's all about. The Texas Deer Hunter TV Show is based on H.O.P.E. and providing hope and dreams for tomorrow. This coupled with my experience at the Dallas Safari Club's Safety Extravaganza for kids (featured in the July 10th edition of our show) has given me a lot of hope for our young people. So, do yourself a favor and take your kids or another young person hunting, you will then really collect a trophy. July 01, 2001:Time
is growing closer for the airing of the first Texas Deer Hunter TV Show.
