TROPHIES AND TREASURES
 

If you have been hunting for trophy whitetail antlers, you may have been looking in the wrong place. Several years ago, I had the opportunity to meet G.T. Moore of Jonesboro, Texas.  It was what many call a happenstance.  I was called out to install a satellite system and was going about my job when I noticed a collection of whitetail antlers hanging in the hallway of the home.   They weren't just any antlers, they were very impressive to say the least.   Many "accomplished hunters" would be more than proud to brag about this fine collection.  The largest had won Mr. Moore a .243 rifle and scope, by scoring 154 Boone & Crockett Points. I asked about the antlers and found the real treasures not in the antlers, but in the stories he recalled from so many years ago.  He modestly told me that he had missed bigger bucks, but that was O.K. since his true love was fishing for catfish, not hunting. I will never forget, listening to the tales from a gentleman who will be 83 in January and seeing the collection of trophies.   I too had been looking for trophies in the wrong place, for in his home there weren't just big deer antlers, but stories that have become my treasures. Hopefully, you will enjoy seeing this fine collection of antlers.
